hummers are hard to beat for person friendly and easy to use ….
them others work but I like a good hummingbird
my 2 cents
OK, I'm gonna go ahead and open a can 'o worms. I am looking to upgrade my sonar. Looking between HB, Garmin and Lowrance. Want a 7-9" screen w/ SI, DI and maps w/contours. Needs to be easy to install, set up and use as I ain't no rocket scientist. Price range: about $800. I just want to catch crappie and bream!

I would be leaning towards Garmin 93 or 94 livescope capable in case you want to go there.
I’d be buying a humminbird of some model.
I don’t think Garmin is up to HB quality for si, however I don’t have a Garmin.

I fought this same decision recently and decided on garmin 93sv UHD. Reasons it’s 9” screen, cheaper, has better maps stock without additional purchases, touchscreen, livescope compatible if becomes cheaper in future. Disadvantage I feel like is resolution. Honestly I don’t know about which has better SI/DI but the garmin works fine. Check out jawjatek post.

hummingbird produces great images for the most part .Lowrance used to be king of resolution back when .
Garmin is ok stuff ,but I still like a good hummingbird image best .
that and ease of operation makes me lean towards the hummingbird line most of the time .
but to me a graph is only to see if the fish are down there .
heck I enjoy 2d mostly and the fish alarm and don't really like the down images .
they require me to concentrate on the graph .
I don't like just looking at a graph much .
I only glance at them most of the time .
they distract me from doing what I set out to do .

HB really needs to get in the live game.... Although it ain't needed to catch fish it sure is fun to watch.....
And on top of that it'll bring the price down to a reasonable price.....

Thanks everyone! I just can't justify livescope. Too $$$$$. If I was a guide, then yes. I just want to get one with SI. Leaning toward the HB.
