    Default Sight fishing

Yesterday I went to a muddy old lake called Kickapoo. Its a 6000 acre compound In pretty much the middle of no where. I peddled my yak to the back of a cove and started slaying some mad males. I was catching some in 2'. Then I noticed movement in 6" to 8". The water disturbance was to small to be gar. So I dipped my jig in the super skinny water and WHAMMO! It was crappie. A split second before the fish would hit you could see his side flash. I caught several this way. Dip jig, watch fish flash, hold jig completely still, feel the thump. It was a blast. Almost reminded me of my sight fishing days in Alaska, but not quite Sight fishing

I caught quite a few in the slips yesterday but they were all too small to keep. They were 16'-18' deep in 24' of water. Since they have not been in the slips for a couple of weeks now I am hoping that this means they are returning to spawn and the larger ones will start to show up again.

Being on the water is fun. Catching is a bonus.

sounds kewl for sure . I seen a few takes in clear water and a few in short water at night .
nothing beats a sight thump for sure
I had a pond fish chase down a spinnerbait years ago in a foot of so of water .
could see the wake as it followed my bait to the shore and KABOOM just like a black bass it slammed that spinnerbait .
never will forget that for sure

I would love to try that, but my old body will never get into one of them, lol! My days of things like that are long gone!
