Thread: LOCKED DOWN

I went to Roberts yesterday, it only has a couple ramps open due to high water but both ramps had full lots, full overflow and trucks/trailers parked down the road. It was a very busy day for boating on Roberts Saturday and Sunday. The open ramps are Denton County which has the same basic restrictions as Dallas County. There was police at the ramp just hanging out, I assume to prevent any kind of gathering but no one was gathering, just launching and going.

That kind of busy activity will draw undue attention to the area. I would fish as often as you can because we are under a Shelter in Place edict and exercising, going to the store and medical visits are ok. I figure they would frown on me pulling my boat to a lake 1 hour away.

Maybe so but Denton county is under the same Shelter in Place as Dallas but that is an "outdoor" activity and I would think boating would be considered one of the best things people can do. All the trails are open for bike riding and jogging and walking. If you are in a boat you can't get very close to anyone. There are no pavilions or grills at the ramp, no one was hanging out in groups, I never got closer than 6' to anyone. I see no reason people can not go out on their boats, that has to be one of the safest things people can do. There is not even a check station to the ramp, so no interaction there.

Whoa, did not mean to suggest anything different then what you said. I am having a small battle with our private park and ramp about this very same thing. Unfortunately, all the city ramps are also shut down. Our mayor and other mucky mucks do not feel fishing is exercise. Somewhat dismaying although the ner-do-wells are really the ones loading up the surf/wake board boats with 10 hoot and hollers who have little to no sense. After 36 years in the military I find it hard to break from legal directives so I guess I will just fish vicariously through you and others (smile). Good luck.

No worries, I did not take it that way. I apologize if it sounded that way. Any more rain and our last 2 ramps will be closed as well and I won't be able to go anymore. As long as they let us, I will go and just stay away from people. Thanks for your service. I am retired as well, not 36 years, though, just 20 but I do follow all the rules too, it does that to you. Good thing is, it is still considered ok for us up here right now so I don't feel bad about going to the lake. I could not agree more on the ski boats with 10 people in it, they need to fine them and get them off the water. Thankfully its still pretty cold and I did not see but 1 of those on the water. I hope you get to get out soon!

do not touch your face under any conditions and wash you hands frequently . keep your distance even from friends .

absolutely! always take precautions and don't get too close. I go to my lake place, half hour drive away from home and doing my normal spring cleanup on pontoon and fishing. Hanging with my friends just not too close. It's almost like normal but we are being responsible as well. We were fishing off dock and could enjoy seeing the others ketchn but still safe.

from what I read its best if you don't leave your home if possible for an extended length of time .
the its ok here is the way it gets rolling and when it gets rolling it rolls like a round boulder downhill .
just a word of caution everyone , this here thing is past contagious by a good mile or 3
