Default the BIG girls are up in some spots shallow !

never mind the water temps as it is for sure bla bla bla , the water is way to cold for them to be shallow , and if they are its only because they are feeding up for the spawn
they always go shallow this time of year on spawning beds looking for a big meal before they lay down .
so for sure don't go looking in 3 to 5 foot of water for any big ole fat female white crappie this early , tis only a myth I promise ….
there is no way they are there in the daylight and for sure not in numbers like limits off the bank either ….or at least that is what google says
and yes KABOOM is the word …

Yep. About when you think you have learned enough to replicate last years success they change their habits. Guess that is one reason they are so much fun to fish for.

You've got that right..... The only constant with these fish is change...... And you can take that to the bank.....

My total catch yesterday was 5 crappie, 2 14", 2 12" and 1 11". Fished all day. Fished till 10:00 this morning, caught 3 crappie. 2 14", 1 12". Tried lake and slip. I'm not complaining about the big ones, I just wonder why the smaller ones are not biting as well. I could see them with my live scope but they would not hit anything. I would have thought they would have started to fatten up by now.

Everything was caught on jigs. The big crappie were suspended 1' off the bottom in 18' of water. The only way they would hit the jig was to drop it onto the bottom, give the line a little slack line, then slowly draw it up past them. They hit the jig as it pasted them. Weird.

    Maybe they’re just camera shy?

Nice one buddy. I am not finding them very shallow around Wichita falls yet. 8' seems to be as far as they want to go so far. I go about every other day or so. I'm guessing it will be any day now. Heck, I even drove down to bowie yesterday, and something happened that hasn't happened in a long time. Not one single crappie agreed to take my jig. I guess it happens man.....just gotta keep grinding

They showed up today in great numbers. Right off the bank. 1'-1.5' of water. It was a blast.Name: 20200302_130138.jpg
