    Default Toledo Bend ???

I am having knee replacement first week of March and would like to make a Toledo Bend crappie trip before I miss the spawn in Arkansas while I recover. Always have wanted to try the chicken Coop area, but have never been to this lake. Any advise on if the timing is good in the next couple of weeks, areas to try. places to stay. motels etc would be highly appreciated. I have good electronics and prefer to spider rig fish. Thanks

Got some intel that some slabs had moved up into some creeks on the north end mid last week. I went sat and they were gone, so I guess the cold snap moved them back out. It was my first trip too. Super stumpy, so be careful. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

OK, Thanks, I hope someone can give me some up to date advise so I can decide whether or not to make the commitment in time and resources...

I fish there about 2 times a year. From what I understand is that the chicken coop area only gets good when we have very cold weather. The lake is low but on the rise. I would look at timber and brush piles at the mouths of creeks . Good luck I'm not to much help

Major flooding rains in the water shed are about to mess up the upper lake the next few days.
I never fish the lower lake but it will be on a big rise for sure.

True the Coop is for cold weather and as soon as they move out of there soon they will be in shallow water. The Black Crappie come in first and if you can time it right the big ones are also first!

I am pretty sure they will soon be in, I have not been yet, but bet some are being caught off docks that have deep water?? I can tell you one year back a few we found them in on Super Bowl Sunday 2/3 and just killed them! See my old pic below, me and neighbor got our 50.
