Default visiting Jamica Beach in Feb March

While I realize Crappie fishing in Jamaica Beach is out. I'd still like to wet a line maybe on the intercostal area. Can anyone give me an idea what might be biting on the salt water side? What gear I should bring. We'll be camping at Jamaica Beach RV park, the boat will be staying in NC
    TIA

Well I would have some spoons incase they have Redfish this time of year. I only really know the Texas coast. I used a lot of jig with Red Taut tails (soft Plastic shrimp tails). In the shallow flats we use to cast out spoons called Hotrod and they were a lot heavier than say a Johnson spoon is and reel them in fast over the grass. Usually a lot of it was sight fishing by seeing them and cast ing to them. Maybe they have flounder too? Jigs on the bottom along legs, even concrete along the water if there is a few feet of depth. However down here the flounder run should be on around Corpus Christy and using light and gigs, we go flounder gigging. Not sure about how all that works now as I was there in the 80's!

220cast Thanks for the response, I'll probably take a couple rods get a non resident license and sit on the beach. Throw some bait out and see what happens.
I've gotta get a regulation book to see what I can and can't do. Like # of rods. etc. Here in the Carolinas we can fish only two rods off the bank but unlimited rods on the boat
