    Default Hello from a newbie

Started fishing for Crappie right before it got hot this year. Well it didn't take to many bank fishing trips for the bug to bite both me and my son. We picked up a boat on Friday and are going out on Monday. We're not proud, we are so new to this we'll take any advice we can find. I think we are going to go to Lewisville on Monday. Maybe fish by the bridge to start or just search out some brush piles. Guess we will play it by ear.

    Thanks for having me.

    Steve

I'm new here too. Hope your trip brings you fish and a good time with your son.

welcome to the fun , Lewisville might not be your best choice . its a big lake and it can be hit or miss frequently .
not knowing your equipment puts me at a disadvantage though . do you have a graph and know how to use it ?
and I know a few spots closer to home if you want to hone your skills and whack some crappie .

you might want to try lake worth . it gets very little pressure and its shallow and its flat out full of crappie .
you have to get a boat ramp permit from the store off Cahoba road by 820 .
if you decide you want to try it holler at me on the pm here and I will tell you some spots to try .
it is heavily patrolled by the ft worth marshalls and you must be 100% legal to boat on it or you will get a ticket .
they even patrol the shoreline and check bank fisherman as well .
one thing for sure I know several spots you can park the boat and get tired of ketchn crappie on that lake .

Lived here fire 20 plus years and some in the 80's, have always heard that you shouldn't be eating Lake Worth fish, just as a precaution. Also if they are watching the lake that close I don't need that since we bought the boat on Friday and haven't done any paperwork yet but have it all.

We bought a Bass Tracker 175. It has a Lowrance Elite 5x. We will be getting another unit here in the next couple weeks.
