You forgot the two dinks for the rest of the night. Given the two of us only caught six fish, of which only two were keepers I don't think it was that good. We had fun but we did not shine in the catching category.

you know timber hopping is quite popular in this area this time of year , do you have any lakes close by with timber in water around 20 foot deep give or take 2 feet ? each tree or trees will typically yield a few fish and maybe a real good tree 6 or 8 .
depth is critical and you need to measure your line carefully and if you jig it will help bigtime to nibble up or a put a pc a minnow on it .
drop it down the timber close to it and watch the line close and to be sure some bites will be really subtle on the take .
stick and move and fill the box is the way its normally done and sometimes it will yield some big summer fish .
tree lines along channel edges are the ones I look at first and around midday to late afternoon when the sun is high is best for me .
and "pole" timber with no limbs holds them quite well sometimes with less loss of jigs as well , just saying

true but early morning and after 6 pm is best for me, since like crappie I don't care much for being in the bright sun during the middle of the day in the summer. So if I'm fishing in the middle of the day it is at my slip or under a bridge.
