Your using it...:Rofl
That's the only unit on the front of the boat, through it does have two transducers hooked to it. My only regret about buying it is that I did not spend the extra money and get a larger screen for it.
The Humminbird on the console has sort of spoiled me so a 9" screen now seems awfully small.
I'm now in my second childhood, buying the toys I could not afford when I was a responsible adult. :Rofl
I haven't tried active captain yet, still trying to learn how to use the basic unit. Does active captain do much for you beside making it easier to record the screen.
as long as I aint the active captain its all good , I just wanna be ketchn :Rofl
Active Captain works differently depending on what unit you have. You can view all the maps you have in AC in the app. If you have a GPSMAP unit then you can have the "HELM" feature on the app which lets you see the screen of what the unit sees on your app. These smaller units do not have HELM capability. You need to record your screen with a separate camera. I talked to Garmin and asked if they will be adding the helm feature to the smaller units and he could not say.
But also with Active Captain you can update your unit on the water easily. When I am on the water my unit notifies me of any text or phone calls to my phone. Wi-Fi is cool on these units.
Yes mine notifies me also and I am about to take that off. It never fails that I get the notification when I am searching for brush and I lose about an inch and a half off the bottom of the screen until I hit the ok button. It is a cool feature if I were using it for other things, but not for that. I do like the update feature though. It told me there was an update yesterday, so I came in the house, downloaded it and will go turn the unit on later and install it. Very easy to do! I have not recorded yet, but plan to this week on the trip.
And I am sure you know but if you have Active Captain on your smart phone (not sure why they call it that-it is not) you can transfer the software update directly from your phone to your Garmin without the trouble of downloading to an SD card from your computer then inserting it in your SD card receiver in your Garmin. Of course, it will do it the old way also.

That's what I like about it. Good app. Just hope they upgrade to let smaller units use the helm to record.
I got it working fine. Recorded some video this past week fishing Possom Kingdom lake. Did not catch one crappie as we planned but ended up catching about everything else. Have a great video with hundreds of fish under some lights in the lake. Looking forward to putting it out.
