    Default New to Conroe

Looking for any advice, no honey holes of course to get me started. Now that I have the engine broken in on the new boat I am ready to start fishing again...been over a year break moving from Florida and changing jobs.

Conroe will be my new “home” lake due to proximity.

I’m 50/50 usually between crappie and bass. I’ll have to start off with single pole action since I don’t have any trolling rigs yet (probably outfit that in the fall).

Just looking for general info on the lake from folks that fish it regularly...hazards, areas to avoid, recommended ramps, common lure types/methods, etc.

Feel free to PM me if you’d like.
    Thanks!
    Nate

    Launch at 830 (Free Launch)
Fish for Crappie with jigs or minnows around the 1097 bridge pilings
Not many hazards unless you venture north of the 1097 bridge more up towards the very north end of the lake.

Talk to SK. I believe he fishes it from time to time even through it is not his main lake.

You do a search on Youtube for "Conroe crappie Cagle Stubblefield fishing" and you will find a few good videos on fishing different Conroe areas. I fish it all the time. Scott's Ridge is a good place to launch with piles close to the ramp. Cagle Park up north has lots of areas to fish. Standard jigs 1/16 to 1/4 oz. Bobby Garland blue ice for lures or tie your own. Fish are holding 8-15 feet down usually. Hope this little bit helps.

Yes and Conroe will soon be my main lake as I can't tolerate some of the changes the so called higher up smarter folks are making too Lake Houston.....

Advise to anyone that want to get on crappie is find the structure you find the crappie (consistently) or you can fish the bridges which will always hold fish.....

The vid I'm releasing today will help put any level crappie fisherman on more fish....... Real tips from a real crappie fisherman
