They are no longer taking people to the slips. That lasted one day, Sunday. They now say the water is shallow enough you can wade in to the docks.

LittleStick, bull bluegill and other types of bream are my favorite target using an ultralight rod. And they are hitting big time in front of my slip on H Dock. Don't know about the barge as I have never fished that barge.

I generally fish for bull bluegill around 5 or 6 pm, after I've caught enough crappie for my needs or if the crappier just won't bite.

This is my play time as I don't keep any of them unless somebody asks me to save a few for them. I love the fight they give on an ultralight rod. I have used just about everything imaginable as bait for them with success. But this year I am using pieces of uncooked hot dog (wiener, frank, whatever you want to call it) or crappie nibbles. I find both to be very productive. I feed more than I catch but it's a ton of fun.

Forgot to say, I don't think you can really steal the fish from a good spot. They move around too much in the course of a day. I know of one location on E dock that always has good crappie fishing. New fish must move into the spot to replace those caught there as too many have been taken out of that spot for all of them to have existed there at the same time.

Plus it is a very long walk from the barge to H dock. But rest assured, IF I can entice the crappie and bream to leave the barge and A dock to come to H dock I will.

Waded in to get to the slips, took the pontoon out. Very slow on the lake, good spots only producing a few dinks. Water is over 7' high, can touch the arches under the bridges now. Only caught one keeper but it was 14". Even though it was slow it was still fun.

The slips are still producing catfish and bream.

Right on. Id try to do the same. I was just messing around though because I’ve heard some conspiracies and complaining from quite a few folks about the recent fishing at the barge and saying things like that in relation to the slips. I just laugh. Jealous little critters they are. I appreciate the info. Good to see you got your boat back out there too

Caught something today that I would have preferred not to catch. First drop at this brush pile my rod was almost jerked out of my hand. Grabbed it with both hands as the rod bent double and the reel sang as the line was pulled off from it. I tried tightening the drag but it didn't help. I had 200 yards of 20 # braid on that reel. The fish stripped it off till the end, then broke the braid.

Would have thought it was a large cat except for the speed at which it was stripping the line off the reel. Sort of feel sorry for that fish as it has a lot of line trailing after it until it manages to get rid of the jig.

The rest of the day was good as I caught a lot of crappie from the same brush pile.

Almost forgot to say: They are using their work barge to ferry people from the storage area parking lot to the marina. So you can still reach your slips or the fishing barge.

Yes and will probably remain so for a couple of weeks.

I would still say large catfish except for the speed at which it stripped the line from the reel. But I will never know and hope to never hook it again.

Will see you there this afternoon. They run a ferry service to the slips that stops at 8 PM. They just the power should be back on tonight but it will probably take a week or more for the water to clear out.
