It was a balmy 74° yesterday and today will not hit 42°. No wonder our crappie on Lake Austin are not acting according to past trends. Guess that is why it is called fishing (smile).

Yeah man, I hear ya. I'm up in Wichita Falls. Our local forecast is calling for a low of 13 Sunday, high Monday only 29. I went out a couple days ago and the water was 47. Raising to 48 by the time I got off the water. The forthcoming cold blast is only gonna lower that. I've had fun coaxing the sluggish slabs from the depths, but dad gum it I'm ready for some short water fish. Oh well, guess I'll wait. The warmer days will soon settle in for the long haul.

I kinda feel sorry for the poor fish. The weather has been about as moody as my x wife ...

Ive been wanting it to get on fire already for a month now, but I actually like it when the cold sticks around enough to hold the fish off until we get to, or closer to, the time change.

15 degrees this morning in Wichita Falls this morning. North wind blowing 16. Making it feel like 0 degrees. Not really your ideal conditions for an early spring crappie adventure. Hahahahaha. Looks like most of the state is feeling the chill this morning.

Yep, here in Austin 28° with the wind blowing. Maybe they will just spawn while I am in my warm home and then be on structure so I can find them again?
