    Default Deep water channels

Seems like the only place we can find crappie are in the deepest channels of Lake Austin. Water temp 58 degrees.

there are likely fish in the mouth of a river or creek stacking up i bet …..black crappie will move into where they spawn anytime in your area if they are not there already . fish a karrot deep under a float about 4 foot deep along a steep rocky creek bank or maybe a cattail type of thing on the northern and western exposures of the lake
move down those types of shorelines slowly pitching to them in a fan cast type of scenario if you don't no exactly where they like to spawn .

I will give it a try once this Yankee weather moves out (smile). Not successful last year either but live to fish (for crappie). I will keep you posted. Water temp is 58 degrees at the surface. We are recovering from the flood where our placid lake became a roaring river redistributing the brush and structure. Still think the crappie are figuring it out. Thanks for the tips.

where they used to spawn they will likely be there again . studies show they return to the areas they were born to reproduce
I have found that to be very true and thought it for many years before I read it

Went out today until gale force winds made it no fun. Could not locate beds with SI and no takers for a Ketchn Karrot 5 feet under cork. Also tried minnows 5 feet under cork. Worked sandy areas and shelf’s at 15 feet and under at mouths of creeks. Will keep trying. Thanks Ketchn and SK for your support and advice.

try rocky shorelines that drop off quickly …….
and right off pea gravel areas in sheltered coves
they will come in the next week or so I think if they are not already sneaking in at night a bit

And that I would welcome anytime. I seem to do well when the fish are focused on structure. Spent tens of thousands on gear, studied hard, fish 4-5 days a week, and still am humbled by the mighty crappie. Love your videos and I learn a lot watching them. I appreciate you taking the time to encourage me.
