Default Lake Austin here we come

Brother and I are going tomorrow after a month of waiting. I figure we have some structure still in place so will confirm them and see if there are any fish on them. We will also scan for some obvious locations and mark them, as well. If most of our favorite areas are washed away we will plan on reseeding them with bamboo condos in future trips. Cannot wait!

Well, amazingly almost all the structure and heavy brush remained intact. We lost a couple but easily replaced. No fish on any structure in our first foray but we hope to hit it tomorrow. According the Gene the fishing machine and SK the fish will be scattered so we may try casting shallow as well as seeing if some relocated on brush. Thanks for the inquiry.

Glad the structure was still okay and yes by now they should be back in more shallow water and probably a bit skittish and scattered.

2d trip and the outside temp is 38°. We will try casting to lay downs and structure in the coves and shallow. We will check the brushpiles for any returning crappie but figure they are still scattered. More follows. Water temp last Thursday was 50-54 degrees.

Well, as I learned in rotary wing flight school in 1969 the term No Joy meant you did not see the aircraft being pointed out by the FAA. It was appropriate to our venture out onto Lake Austin. Not only was it cold but the wind picked up. We could have dealt with that but suddenly the current picked up three fold. Obviously there was a need to generate electricity to the detriment of our fishing. So be it. We will be back after Thanksgiving. Thanks to all that read our posts and particularly those that reply with your insights. What a great forum!

And me too! We could use the help. Seems like since the water temp is 55-58 degrees, water muddy, and there is still occasional current the crappie have not returned to brush as they normally do this time of the year. May have to start looking at deeper channels and locating bait fish. Probably on the water Tuesday.
