Do you take all the small branches off of the bamboo so just the main stalk is left or leave them on?

I take nothing off. The leaves come off in a week, or so, but the small branches are part of the overall cover the plankton stick to and then hide the bait fish. This is what it looks like in a month, or two.

I talked to a game warden yesterday and never got a clear Yes or No to dropping brush. I kicked him around for 10 minutes about it but never a solid answer. More or less he didnt care what we do but said in his opinion it needs to be natural. No bricks or metal buckets, that sort of stuff. Still waiting on an answer from TPWD.

How in heck are you suppose to weight it down? Concrete is what we use usually. I made up a bunch of bamboo buckets and didn't weight them enough and didn't make them tip over proof so all went over with in a week on the first one I put in, lol! Of course this lake has different rules and I do plan to put some willow and bamboo back in again for next year!

You got me buddy. They cant give you the exact rules or where to find them. TPWD never emailed me back about any of the questions I asked. I think its ridiculous honestly. I saw on youtube a guy that made an awesome habitat out of old tires. Holds fish like crazy but Im sure they would be against that as well.

Know fist these fell over fast so I didn't do the base well enough. Also need to almost fill that bucket with concrete and maybe have some kind of pipe going through the bucket to make a cross to keep them from falling over or find a better way to get this in, but put it in full tilt! Here is the pic of my first one I ever made.
