    Default Cold Conroe Crappie!

Outside temp was 37 degrees at 0500 at the ramp.
Winds were little to none until 0900 this morning.
Water temp was 42 degrees and was cloudier more than normal.
Crappie do not bite on Conroe until the morning crappie breakfast bell around 0700 just after day break. You can see the shad hitting the surface eating glass minnows and parasites.
Caught 25 total for the day but kept only 14 keepers which were 11" or better. Biggest was 13.5"
Most caught at 10' to 14' down in 24' of water around structure and piles.
Left at 1100 when the crappie nap time bell went off. They were supposed to get a wake up call around 1500 but I didn't want to stick around. My toes were frozen well by this time.
Cold, good bite, nice slabs, had fun!
    Tight lines ya'll!

Thanks fellers! I went back out yesterday and caught some nice slabs for the day. I think I caught maybe 2 or 3 "small" crappie that I threw back. The rest were all over 11"!
The white crappie were larger than the black like this all week and had some huge arched backs!
I went four days in a row to Conroe and I think I scanned over 6 miles of brush piles for the upcoming spawn in a few weeks.

Most of the folks that are catchn crappie now are catchn them under the bridge just out from Cagle, get there early cause they are right at fighting over bridge pylons from what I've heard.......

Actually, Stubblefield is not boat overcrowded like a bridge. I have the whole river to myself most of the day. With crappie being only 3' to 5' down up there makes it a breeze to limit out. So much structure you can find crappie schools every 20 feet!
    Tight lines ya'll!!!
