WE had good fishin when water was up and running n the creek, that was when we had good rains and our Oak wooded bottoms flooded, maybe 12-15 times we caught it that way in the years we owned it. The ducks were also abundant then. WE would duck hunt from 6-about 9, then go start our camp fire which was a butane bottle with one those heater attached to it. we always brought pre-cooked biscuits and coffee and maybe a few shots of Southern Comfort, that made for a nice day. We would clean few fish for each one take home the return rest. The wives even enjoyed few times with us, we did not want them to get to involved and want to return every time we went. My father law really liked it, he was in early stage of Alzhimers and that made for his day and we all had fun.

JCT at Will Smith Road - Roadnow

    This it?

410MAN simpler times are the ones memories are made of! Hate that the family property was sold and not held on to for future generations to enjoy.

I liked the part where you all carried the women to the camp, but didn't want them to like it too much and want to come back every time
They could have made fresh biscuits, gravy and sausage upon your return from the duck shoots.

THats the start of Will Smith, u had go 2 miles down to the very end of road and our farm house was there, small place 800 sg ft one bath room, but we enjoyed it. On 4 wheelers U could get to the creek. I had men from Dallas willing to pay $500 a day to hunt duck in morning and hogs in afternoon. I never took them up on offers, .
The wives wanted to hunt with us also but they talk to much, then they wanted to do all the fishing well its kinda hard to get a "backlash" in a spin reel but they could do it.
Before land was sold we had a family meeting and decided to sell, It was time consuming and U almost have to be doing something all the time to maintain the fences, barns, feeders and equipment. We bailed and sold hay to help pay up keep, My dad sold all the cows about 10 yrs ago, at 90 yrs old now he is tired of keeping it up and we, all us kids work so much we could not help enough, But when the money came in from the sell, it was VERY nice. We still have some land in the Judson area where we all live, we gave both our boys 15 acres each said here it is so do something one already built nice home and other one almost finished with his. Im still working to help pay my beer money and boat gas, I stop smoking so that helped. I hope my wife keep working another 15 yrs until she is 80 and get full social security and pension money, then I be set. HA HA HA
