Looks like you guys hit the jackpot!
Congrats!
Every Thanksgiving my brothers and I go Crappie Fishing at the Pines, this year was no different. This year Thanksgiving fell on my oldest brother birthday
My middle brother took his own boat and met us there. We first fished down by the Dam...caught a few. We then went up the lake to our normal fishing water. At first there was just enough wind for a slow drift...when we hit the 20-23 feet of water the catfish bite was crazy! My brother was reeling them in like he was bream fishing. About every 30 minutes I would catch a Crappie. 22 Cats in all and nice size to them. I have always been told during this time of year, its the best time to drift for some cats...only problem we were in search of the Crappie.
The wind picked up and shifted...out with the drift sock which did its job. We never really found the Crappie, 23 in all, the ones we did catch were nice with 2 of them almost 3 pounds. They are still scattered. We need some cold weather to come and stay to bunch them up. My middle brother found somebody's honey hole and picked up 23 also. We caught a mess of yellow bellies to beef up the bounty. Not sure how many but I stpped counting after 40. We used minnows, depths from 15 to 35 feet. My brother and I netted 3 good piles of fish. Now time for some turkey!
Yea, I caught a limit! Did'nt you?
That's a good day for sure!
Nice report! A Good Trip indeed.

yes indeed, this time of the year its best to fish during a weekday because of limited boat ramps available, hopefully when the lake fills back up the corp people in forth worth wont let it all out next spring, and all ramps will be usable. I believe id skinned those catfish, good whole fryer size, maybe if 410 man reads this post he will have some info to pass on im not going to ask how many rods you were fishing with
Those look NICE fishes, i have some friends that fish pines alot, at mid lake, i think they use wenies for bait or maybe sardines,
