The water level down 3.5 ft according to CORP report, but it really down 3 ft. and thats a lot. I have not been crappie fishin for long time but have been cat fishin and doing ok with dough bait. Have not tried Bream. Its HOT out there after about 10 am unless you have umbrella. Where you staying?

Pines is a great lake. I have fished it for 50 yrs my grandfather would take me bream fishing. I remember when you could not see across lake for the trees, some still had leaves mostly just lots trees still standing. We would go fish from 7 to 12 noon and catch 2 ice chest full ( the old type metal side ice chest). Granpaw had lady thay would clean on the halves, she got half we got half. We used crickets and worms. I remember have vienne sausage and sardines and drinks from the ice chest that smelled and tasted like the fish cause we kept in same cooler. Its not like that anymore, bit I still the memories.
The crappie fishin can be VERY good, jigs out in the wooded area just let jigs down beside stumps and work from top to bottom then back up, change the speeds until ya find the correct one. Cats are almost everwhere especially along creeks. I must go back to work for while. maybe more info later.

If you do end up going, you might wanna stop in and talk with wild Bill at the Jonathan's Creek Mini Mart near Jonathan's Creek on the North side of the lake. He can put you on to the fish, and what the lake is doing that way. Don't miss out on his chopped BBQ brisket sammichs! He makes BBQ pretty much every day, or at least he did when I was last down there. Dang good eatin there for sure, and his fishing advise on the Crappie is top notch too!! Tell him Tim from Iowa sent ya!
