Nice catches. That is a monster skipjack
Dr Phillip went with me this morning on a crappie trip. I was going to make this a rest day, but Phil called at 9 pm with a better offer. Grin. So at daylight, we launched the boat and went to a nearby spawning cove and expected the fish to be shallow and right up on the shoreline like it has been the past 3 days, but fish will fool you and if we don’t adapt to what they are doing, we may not catch as many, but we figured it out pretty quickly.
We had a double limit by 10:04 am and called it a day. I may get that rest after all. The fish had pulled off the banks into deeper water, but they are doing their spring fling and so much fun to catch. Three consecutive days of double limits can spoil a guy. I caught the biggest Skipjack of my live, over 19” long, a channel catfish, 1 yellow bass and 2 bluegills were the odd ball species that we caught today.
On a humorous note, our friend Jeff from Oliver Springs came down a day or so to crappie fish and he and Charlie had a good catch. Jeff is the one that I put on Slab Sauce and he is a big believer now. Anyway, Charlie looked at Jeff and he had Slab Sauce all the way up to his elbow and so much on his hand that he couldn’t even tie a knot because it was so slippery. Lolol. Jeff is a hoot for sure.
