    Default If You Fish Chickamauga

The most popular boat ramp on Chickamauga Lake (Chester Frost Park) will be closed for the next 6-8 weeks. That's bad news, but the good news is, in the long run, they're making MASSIVE improvements. Thanks TWRA and Dept. of Tourism. Here's the deets: Good news, bad news: Chester Frost Boat Ramp Closes for Replacement | WTVC

    Improvements Are wonderful!
just hope they aren’t as slow as the crew working on one of ours !
went down at the end of July and was supposed to be done by fall .
they just sent out an email the first part of this week saying that it will hopefully be complete around April this year !

Are you being serious? It is hard to detect sarcasm via text. Our lake access points are garbage when compared to other places. If Mississippi can afford to put bathrooms, fish cleaning stations, and concrete parking lots on all of it major ramps TWRA should be able to afford it as well. Our licenses have done nothing but go up. There is not a public bathroom on any of the Big Sandy that I am aware of. Only 2 of them are all concrete or paved parking lots. It is not that big of a deal for me, but I have a wife and daughter that like to join me on the water sometimes and it is always a problem when they need to use a bathroom. It really is embarrassing when you compare what TWRA does for its lake access points to other places.

The Alabama Ramps in the area where Slabprowler is from are not very nice. Most of them are little more than a graveled spot in the woods big enough for a few cars. No docks or any other features certainly no lights or bathrooms.

I avoid Alabama like the plague, so I can not comment on the condition of them. However, my original point is that TWRA can do better. It is that simple. We do not even have access to a porta potty anywhere on the Big Sandy. I do not think they should completely overhaul all of the ramps, but they could put a bathroom at a couple of them for the ladies to use.

It is understandable. I have not seen a fish cleaning station. There is a Porta potty at one of my local Ramps. I have not been to the Big Sandy.
