Default My late, non-crappie report 12/12/2022

Wasn't originally going to post this, but seems like the forum been pretty quiet here lately.

I had a few PTO days left last week and decided I was NOT gonna burn them unless there was rod/reel or a bow in my hands.

...unless the wife told me there was something else I had to do. Thankfully, she didn't

I talked to some buddies and sounded like the Hiwassee was pretty bad with all the rains, so decided to pull on up to Pinhook below WB dam - that water usually stays in pretty good shape, despite heavy rains. They were pulling 48K that day (last Monday) and were not spilling the gates, which kinda surprised me, given all the recent precip. Temp was 53*

For a Monday, the ramp looked like Walmart parking lot. For those that have not been to this ramp, IT SUCKS. Only a single lane and current makes it VERY TOUGH for a single angler to launch and take-out. I let several guys go ahead of me as I didnt wanna hold them up. Finally, ran into some dudes down from Kentucky, and one of them offered to pull the truck up for me. There still some nice folks around

I think I finally got up into the tailwater at around 10:30am. Took some creativity to dodge all the dudes trolling - had to have been 30 or more boats pulling long lines and some of them with planers. Looked like a funeral procession stuck on repeat. I also learned that these guys have NO ISSUES running over your lines. Especially if they see you boating fish I certainly don't own the water and have no issues fishing close to guys, but if I can reach down and grab your planer as it goes by - YOU'RE TOO CLOSE.

Took me a bit to get them figured out, but once I did - THEY WERE STACKED IN THERE LIKE CORD WOOD Was catching them almost every cast there for a bit, then they'd move. 15 minutes later, they were back. WATCH THEM BIRDS. THEY'RE SMARTER THAN YOU THINK

1/4 and 3/8oz jigs with swimbait bodies in natural colors. I decided to be done with it at around 1pm - decided I wasn't gonna stick around and dodge boats anymore.

I know that this forum is not called "TOOTHYCRITTER.COM", but here some pictures of some Tennessee River fish, since I haven't been slab fishin' in a bit:

Those are some nice ones. I need to get in gear and learn to catch them. That is a tricky t
    Ramp to deal with.

I love this report. I haven’t reported on here for a few weeks because my fishing buddies have all been up a tree. I quit fishing by myself anymore. Bu I will make a tailwater report in just a few minutes. It won’t be a crappie report. Sorry, Slab. I’ll try to do better after deer season.
