Thinking about planning a trip in a couple weeks what area of the lake should I target and a good boat ramp to use? I have never been so any info would be helpful thanks.

Well we always fish the Obey river section for Crappie, and fish out of East Port marina. We fished mid March, April for a week and actually just got home this afternoon from a 3 day trip. When we pulled in Monday we couldn't believe how much they have pulled down the lake, someone said 11ft but it looked like more, someone said they lowered it in anticipation of Ian weather coming north, who knows. I will say most of our favorite spots were beaches and it was tuff finding a cove that held any water. So after 3 days of hard fishing we ended up with four 10+" fish! yeah it wasnt good, even took one of our local friends out to no avail, the willing fish we did find were 6' to 8' down in 12-15 fow and tight on the few laydowns we could find, I was hoping my new livescope was gonna save the day but nope! Wed. we pulled deep diving cranks in the morning hoping to get some walleyes but only managed a small largemouth, water back in Obey was slightly stained and got cleared toward Sunset marina temps stayed around 71 degrees. No tellin why the bite was so bad the weather has been steady dont know. Hopefully things will change, good luck to you

Thanks for the info that was a rough trip for sure. I will probably wait awhile and see if it improves any before I go.
I drive 4-5hrs from Cincinnati to fish Dale, being out of the way is one of the things I like, most the pleasure boaters go to Cumberland. We do well in the spring catching Blacks, Whites and Stripped nose, but even is the fishing isnt good its just a beautiful place with very little boat traffic.
