    Default Old Hickory from Gallatin

Just moved to the area and I'm keeping my boat over at the marina now. Looking for some advice on crappie in the area. I haven't fished this far up river only down at the dam. Just put livescope on the boat as well. Looking for a fishing buddy, friend, teacher, cleaner that wants to fill some freezers up. I'm available to fish a few nights per week after work and weekends. What's the trick around here fellas? thanks in advance.

What marina are you docked at? my best luck for crappie on OH is shooting docks, this time of the year docks in 12 to 16 fow are the best. Docks with lifts (up and pontoon boats in them are tops on my list. I shoot 1/16 oz Pink jigs with southern pro hot grubs in red with Chartreuse tail (KY Killer) and popsicle with chart tail.

I am docked at Gallatin Marina. Thanks for the insight. I have found a few brush piles that have produced pretty decent. I really need to work on my dock shooting skills. I guess i just have to get out there and spend the time breaking off and tying on lol.

There are some really good videos that show shooting techniques, also save yourself some jigs and practice in the yard, lay a 5 gallon bucket on its side and shoot the jig to the bucket. When I first started shooting I practiced in the garage, the concrete floor would let the jig skip on it to the bucket. I have a 5' - 6" medium - light action one piece rod I really like, it has enough backbone to help shoot the jig out. Ultra lite rods are to mushy for my liking. Also Gallatin marina has some great slips to shoot for crappie, you should be able to scan under them and find the slips with structure.

I went out sunday morning. Shot docks for 4 hours. I had one bite and reeled in about a 1 1/2 lb largemouth. I got pretty decent at hitting what i was shooting for, i guess its like everything else, just takes time. Was a very pretty morning. Looking forward to many more days like these.
