    Default Pulling cranks on Priest

Got out Saturday morning for half a day (till the wake boats showed up). Water temp was 86 (7:00 am) when I got on the water. I scanned my first go to spot and there was no sign of bait or crappie so I motored to the #2 spot further down lake, I scanned bait fish and marked a couple schools of fish so I made a couple runs, all First two runs all I caught was three large catfish and a couple small stripe, I was trolling 14' to 16' fow. The third cat was a beast to get in on my 14' rod, during the fight my boat got into deeper water, I got a second fish on another line in the deeper water, I played the catfish out and got it into the boat. On the second line I could see the CRAPPIE was riding the surf, I got it in, a nice 11" keeper. While I was getting the cat off the line I got another hook up, on the same rod, another keeper crappie, both on Pico Gezzer Clown. Finally got the cat off and switched several lines to Geezer Clowns, I stayed in 20 to 22 fow and finished the morning with 10 shorts and 7 nice keepers between 11' and 12". I was in the Bryant's cove area, trolled 1.4 to 1.6 mph before the waves finally got to me. Best colors were the Pico Gezzer Clown and Arkie Grass shrimp. Most bites seemed to come off points in the contours, the smaller points seemed to be better than the larger points. Also when I made my turns the thermocline was pretty noticeable in the main channel down about 26 fow, I'm thinking it may have pushed the fish up from deeper water creating the sweet spot depth of 20 to 22 fow.

    Good luck to all

I got out again this past Saturday morning from 6;00 to 10:00, fished the same area same pattern and put 12 in the boat, biggest was 14.25", same cranks were best, grass shrimp and Gezzer clown. I had my line counter reels this time, started out at 60' and
80' back, 60' was the ticket the first 2 hours, the my 80' out started producing. Maybe will see you over there when you get out coach.

    Good luck to all
