    Default Chickamauga in late summer???

We have a trip coming up in late summer (end of Aug) and I am wondering if it's worth it to hook the boat up and drag the boat down Chattanooga for a few hours of fishing. We will be staying at or near Harrison Bay St Park. I know nothing of the area, or if it is even close to a good area for some pan fishing.

They catch crappie off the from around the bridge. It is right next to the ramp and the marina. I have not fished it but I hear it can get crowded there so the fishing must be decent

I fish there off and on. Had some good days around the bridge. Some good fishing around Chester Frost across the lake also. Biggest thing to watch out for are the bass boys churning up the water. Lol. Bless their hearts

Good luck and have fun. And welcome ya all

I'ts always worth it to hook up the boat! That lake is loaded and if you can stand the August Tennessee heat (which you can if your from Nashville) you will catch fish!
    Good Luck

That is what I am looking for. I didn't want to take the trouble to arrange two tow vehicles and another driver to get down there and find out that bluegill, or redear ect.. are done down there or that it was so overrun with pleasure boaters that fishermen didn't have a chance at that time of year. I know it is a fairly large body of water, sometimes you have the fishing end and the pleasure boating end and I don't know which end I would be on.

Not trying to discourage; however, Harrison Bay is a very busy area. Harrison Bay State Park, Chester Frost Park, and Booker T. Washington. Not to mention marinas and yacht clubs. You will encounter most anything that floats. If your visit is after August 10 (I believe) things may be somewhat better, in that, Hamilton County goes back to school. If you're out near main river channel, keep your head on a swivel. Steer clear of the big wake boats.

Our visit is either 8/19, 8/26 or Labor day weekend and we are staying at Harrison Bay. I am a very experienced boat and while crowded waters aren't a deal breaker for me, crowded waters on unfamiliar waters can be a recipe for disaster. That couples with not knowing if there were any good fishing spots in the area is what lead to my questions.

The Chick is full of pleasure boaters and bass tourneys I stop fishing there from Memorial Day weekend to October. Below the dam is much better fishing with less traffic .
