Thread: TN Fishing license

Check with the local TWRA officers for those counties. they should be able to direct you to some spots.

The TWRA folk are easy to talk to and will answer any questions you may have. They even have a real person to answer the phone! As I understand it a yearly license Covers most of the state twra lakes and rivers. I have read of a few exemptions where some areas require and additional stamp. I don't do trout myself either, so I do not get it. Also, remember that new license begins at end of February. So don't buy a year license now. And if you happen to be an older fellow, like myself, you can get a permanent license for just a little more than a yearly one. In any case, contacting your local office is best like tenncrappie said. Good fishing and have fun!

If you are a resident (and I assume you are since you mentioned buying a home), then Type 001 is what you want (Resident Fish/Hunt) at $34. If you decide you want to fish trout later, you can purchase Type 022 (resident trout). Which both Center Hill and Dale Hollow tailwaters are regular stocked with trout. Sales of Type 022 also provide most of TWRA's funding for warmwater streams program (ie bass/catfish/crappie/walleye).

Type 076 is nonresident fish only (and $50).

Both Center Hill and Dale Hollow are ran by the Army Corp. Shoreline access is available when water is down (fall-spring) from most boat ramps. The exception would be ramps that are near marinas or other developments. Lots of land near shore is also hunted so be aware during hunting season. Keep in mind that both reservoirs are extremely steep and rocky. Most people don't walk very far. When water is at full pool (ie summertime), it makes walking the wooded shoreline very difficult.

Thanks for the info! Just purchased the two weeks ago, still have out of state DL so Im assuming Ill have to get non-resident.. Ill call and ask.

Twra app is also nice. You can get your license, boat tags/ stickers. Never have to leave the house available 24 hours a day.

Don't think you could have located to a better place. My knowledge of Dale Hollow is limited but I can tell you that Center Hill is pan-fish Heaven! One down side is the Corp. finished fixing the dam at Center Hill year before last and now the water level is kept many feet higher than it used to be kept. This has made things tough in the Springtime. It's much harder to find the Bluegill and Shellcracker beds when the water is way back in the creeks and trees. It used to be easy to find shallow gravel coves but not so much anymore (at least for me). When you can find them....they are big! Dale Hollow is so clear that when I found Shellcracker beds there the fish could see me as easily as I could see them. Saw gops of them....caught nill.

Also asking about Dale hollow and Center hill lake, Im located between the two lakes and to the east. No boat yet, is there a good shore line at any of the two lakes anyone would recommend?

Plan to fish both lakes, for now I just need to learn where I can fish from the shore line. I will be looking for a boat this summer
