Delicious dinners there. Congratulations
I got Dr Phillip Gawthrop out of the woods long enough to make a short trip up to Watts Bar tailwaters and check out the fish and conditions. Conditions were perfect for December 5th with 15,000 cfs flowing through 3 turbines, cloudy skies with frequent light rain showers, air temp mid 50’s and no competition. Water was ideal at 54 degrees. But, and there is always a but. No baitfish were observed, no birds working along the shoreline or over the water, and it was like the night before Christmas. Not a creature was stirring, not even…..you get my drift.
I caught a nice little eating Striper on our first drift, a nice eating Walleye on the second drift and Phil hooked a Striper on the third drift that stayed on the line for about 30 seconds before pulling off. I thought, ‘Boy howdy, it is going to be a great morning. 30 drifts later without a bite, and rain becoming stronger, we called it a morning.
