    Default Paris Landing Thanksgiving

Hey everyone, my wife and I have the very rare opportunity to NOT have to do Thanksgiving with the family, so we thought about what we should do with this bonus time and came up with a fishing trip a little further from home than we normally would do in late November. We normally fish Rend Lake in IL that time of year.
We’re staying at Paris Landing and want to do some crappie fishing. We have never been on the lake and have no idea about the local seasonal patterns. Would any of y’all be willing to share some general advice about what we should do to have a little success?
We can spider rig if we have to, and have pretty good electronics on the boat if we have to scan for structure & bait.
Would anyone be willing to share some general local advice for that time of year?
    Thank you!!

I do not know the lake at all but I will respond with what is working in my area lakes. The hill land lakes in Middle Tn. are producing crappie in areas where the channel closes with the bank and you can find laydowns sticking in the water. The crappie are on the deep end of the laydowns. Kentucky lake is far different because the channel is nowhere near the bank. Spider rigging may be your best bet unless you want to spring for a local guide. My guess is anywhere you can find laydowns in water of any depth may get you bit.
sorry I'm not much help but no one from the area responded.

If you’re going to be staying here at Paris Landing you should try the Big Sandy arm just south of the bridge.
That area has several ledges and there are a lot of stakebeds on the ledges. Depending on the weather for the next few weeks will determine the depths the fish will be in.

I haven’t been out much lately but my neighbors have been catching most of their fish in 9-13 FOW this past week.

Send me a PM when it gets closer to your trip and I’ll try to give you some current info and give you directions to a couple ramps in the area that are closer to the areas I fish.

I’m a transplant from Belleville and I've fished Rend several times in the past.

i don't have a clue. I plan to do some scanning, but that is written in sand on West Sandy.

Thank you Cane Pole. I think I am going to fish Paris Landing south, down Big Sandy to the West Sandy arm. I'll try and learn how to use my electronics that I am still a newbie with.

    Any Weather,

We will be down there same time and same area. Still learning it ourselves. Can touch base to let you know how we are doing. Gonna spider rig south of bridge on Big Sandy
That's why they call it Fishing and not Catching!

Thanks castaway. We're going to be fishing Big Sandy as well and will post to this thread the conditions and results.
