    Default Fishing with my Son

Sunday morning wasn't the most preferred conditions, but I needed to get out for some fishing with my son. It was windy, so we ran up a creek to start our adventure. Calm waters were peaceful on this morning. We managed one off species fish, a 32" Alligator Gar that was quite confusing to me while reeling her in. She ran like a bass, head shakes like a crappie and rolled like a catfish. So I was completely surprised when I laid eyes on her. We moved out to the main lake. Checked a couple spots connected with 3 crappie, 2 shorts and one keeper that flipped off while being lifted in the boat, my son learned that lesson well. We fished some vertical structure and some brush in 17- 20' fow. Oh yeah, did I mention it was windy? After battling the wind and waves for about 3 hours and not much to show for our efforts we headed to the ramp for the day. Having very little time on the water show in a hurry, in your results.Name: IMG_20210711_122329.jpeg

Purty gar. A day on the water is better than on land IMHO...

I’m glad to see you back on the water after the long time off. Grin. You can have all the gar that you want. Lol.
