Nice looking catch. I need to venture over to Wolftever and fish around some. I have been planning to go for a couple of years and still haven't made it.
My wife, Wanda, had knee replacement surgery a couple of weeks ago so I have been home bound playing nurse. I’m doing everything around the house including cooking, laundry, managing the pain meds etc and averaging around 7,000 steps per day. Grin. Oh, I had my 79th birthday in the middle of all this rehab.
Yesterday, my daughter, Daphne had to be at our house at 7 am to babysit my great grandkid, Thea, and I saw an opportunity to get away for two hours to fish before taking Wanda to therapy. I was texting with Candi and she said that she wanted to go with me even though it was only going to be a couple of hours or so.
We met at Wolftever ramp and fished about 30 minutes or so without a bite, so it was time for a move. Before surgery, I had been fishing for bass, Stripers, and catfish and not keeping up with the crappie, so when it slows down, I know where the fish go and we got on them quickly.
We landed 9 keeper crappie, 3 White bass, 1 big yellow bass, and several short crappie before I had to get off the water. I kept the 9 crappie and yellow bass for dinner and released all the rest.
Fish were deep and not aggressive. Picky bite mostly, but when we finally figured the technique to get them to commit, it was game on and fun for just a few short minutes. We caught our fish on Bobby Garland slab slayers and minnow Mind’Rs. One color was best but we caught on a couple more colors as well. Just make sure that the plastic has some chartreuse on it somewhere. Lol.
One screen shot to show you what kind of structure that I look for in 5he summer time. In the winter time too. In the fall as well. When it is spawning season, I fish tailwaters for Stripers and walleye and white bass.

You may be a little bias young lady. You can still catch crappie better than most people that I fish with and I couldn’t have been prouder of you when you ventured out on you own last week, located fish, threw the marker correctly and positioned your boat and then caught some deep fish. Most os the guys that I fish with can catch them if I locate and position boat correctly, but they struggle sometimes on their own. Witness last week when a friend fished several hours and didn’t get a single bite. I get skunked too but it is a rare thing.

There are some great docks back here esp when water temps are in the 55-65 area. It’s a little more challenging once it gets warmer An the pleasure boaters flood this area. The springs back here are great 24/7 year round however you might have to wait in line to get a spot, those areas are occupied 24/7 as well! Good luck wave as you pass by!
