It's been a tough crappie bite for most on Chickamauga this year... with a few highlights here and there, it's been one of the worst Spring bites I've seen here in many years. Just too much rain and cold has had the fish confused. I've switched over to catfishing myself.

Stay after em guys it will get better soon ! We coming out of a cold winter and these cool nights makes the shallow bite tuff. Deeper water will stable quicker !

I agree it has been tougher to weed through the undersized fish for me as well. Last Monday 04/12 was the last time I fished. The males were in shallow and in full tuxedos and I caught quite a few - most in the 10" range, I backed off the beds and checked deeper water and deeper structure and caught some nice size females 11-13", they appeared to have some eggs but did not look as plump as a few days earlier. I was not keeping fish that day so just guessing on the eggs by looking at them.

I threw out 12 Jugs last weekend and caught 8 eater size blue cats. I went this morning and found 2 crappie both short.
