    Default Crappie and Crackers 4/28,29

I went solo yesterday looking for Shellcrackers, and had a pretty good day. Not great, but good. I brought home 9 between 8-10.25”. Crappie fishing offshore only produced one 12” crappie and a couple of shorts.

Today I took JayW with me and we did okay as well before the wind got up and we decided to quit at 11. We did manage to find spawning crappie just outside of the Shellcracker/Bluegill beds as well. Took home 5 out of 6 keeper crappie that we caught plus 7 short crappie. Males were in full tuxedos. Beautiful fish.

We added maybe 15 Bluegills caught and most released. I did keep 4 that were 8.25” long. Jay caught a nice 16” LM Bass that went home with me. That is what I call a Wanda fish, so named because my wife loves these best and fusses with me if I don’t bring them home when I catch them. Lolol. Gotta make Mama happy.

Itty Bitty baits in a couple of different colors caught all our fish today except one lone deep water crappie that fell for a BG Blue Ice slab slayer. Jay fished with 1/32 oz jigs and I fished mostly with 1/48 oz jigs.

Yesterday, I had 3 Shellcrackers that were over 10”. Today, Jay caught a tarp sized Cracker at 11.25”. My big today was 9.25” Cracker.

Oh nice catch, the Crackers/Bluegill are such fine table fare. I think they outshine the Specks any day. That Jay feller found a barber looks like

I sure had a great time. It's not every day that you get to catch a TARP. Sunfish in general and shellcrackers specifically are a blast to catch and eat. Thanks again for the trip.
