I’m making my first trip to reelfoot at the end of April/beginning of May. We are staying at the Sportsman’s North location. Looking for crappie or gills or really anything biting that tastes good. Any recommendations/tips for fishing the upper blue basin/buck basin areas? We don’t have too much time this trip to really scout the lake out but hope to make this an annual trip with our boys. Thanks for any help!

Jig in the tree's. Always worked for me there. 9' jig pole with smallest jigs. Jig around the cypress knees and hold on!

Wax worms and grizzly jigs, all the water is shallow on the north end. Should be able to find some bream.

Already ordered some for the tackle box. Are the crappie usually in and back out by the end of April? Bream on the trees and stumps or pads? I appreciate all the info I can get.

at that time you will have to hunt for them in the trees knees, lily pads and around duck blinds too. in main pool by put in that is a shallow lake with tons of stumps and you just need to keep moving and find out which has crappie or BG's on them. should be able to find some beds too for bulls. IMO when hitting new water do a guide trip as they KNOW how to getrdone and well worth the money, then you go out on your own with realtime knowledge of what's happening then. Ole Billy is the guy Scott from G3 uses and is entertaining dude!

There will still be crappie on some trees by then. There will also be a few bream on them but you will do better on the bream in the pads.

My thoughts were to hit the pads near ditches and drop offs for bream.
