Great February day. Thanks for sharing.
Took off the day from work and spent a few hours on the lake. Spent a little time scouting and checking out some new areas for spring. The water temperature was 47 to 49 degrees where I was fishing. Ended the day with 10 keepers 10 to 12 inches. Caught a lot of short fish. All fish were caught on 1/24 oz lite wire jig heads. Chartreuse and white body with with Chartreuse jig head was the ticket today. All but was keeper was caught off of structure in 15-25 ft of water. Jig color seemed to make a big difference today. Slab sauce and crappie nibbles seemed to work equally well today. Flow was around 45K CFS if I remember right.
Caught some yellow bass, blue gills and one large mouth that was 3 lbs. Was a great days and all great fun on 2 lb test line.
Here is a photo of the crappie.

Which ramp do you put in at? Or which would you consider the safest. Never fished the Chick in winter and current water level is 6.52 feet below full pond. Thanks for any suggestions.
nice catch
I normally put in at Harrison Bay State Park or Wolfteever both are right off of HWY 58. I have put in at Chester Frost but you have to be careful there as I know it drops off from prop wash. I don't know about Skull Island in the winter. In the summer time I have not had any issue. I cant speak for any other ramps.
FYI I hear skull island had some break ins at the launch ramp. So take everything out of your vehicle and you may just wanna leave it unlocked and this way you won't come back to smashed windows at the end of the day. Tweekers suck.
Thank you for the report. Nice mess of fish. I need to crappie fish more and leave the tailwater fish alone. Lolol.
Thanks for the report.
