Default Best lake for crappie January- March

I am retiring in one year and am looking to spend January-March crappie fishing. I知 looking for recommendations on what lake would be a good fit with good fishing and a good area to buy/rent. Thanks for any info you can give me. I知 looking for somewhere warmer than central Illinois. Thanks!

Most all of our lakes are going to offer some crappie fishing in the winter months. While we are certainly warmer than central Illinois, many of our lakes do occasionally freeze up, but it is normally not for long. The weather is highly variable during the winter. We can have central Illinois type winter weather or Deep South mild weather, often within the same two week period. Personally, if I were looking for a warmer retirement place, I'd be looking in the southern half of the Gulf Coast states.

Since you are going to retire, buy you a motor home and Start in Florida say Okeechobee, Kissimmee, St. Johns river and work your way North as season progresses.
