    Default Cuonthelake, heavy pics 11/10/20

Cuonthelake texted me around 9-9:30 and said that she could go fishing if I wanted to go. So, I agreed to the trip, knowing that I was going to get a beat down. It doesn’t hurt so bad when you know that you taught her how to crappie fish and I can take great pride in the knowledge that she can whip just about everyone of you guys dock shooting or fishing deep water which we did today.

I knew that I was in trouble when I arrived at her dock on Wolftever creek and she was standing there grinning with a keeper crappie in hand, so I’m one down before she ever gets in the boat. We fished her neighbor’s dock and her first two or three attempted shots slammed off the dock instead of shooting back under to the dark spot the crappie like to hang out in. She said that she needed to knock the rust off and I don’t know if she meant the dock or herself. Grin.

So we ran out of the creek to some fish that I located 3 days ago but did not fish. We idled by and scanned the brush and there they were looking frisky. I set the boat up in optimum position for our presentation. It didn’t take long before Candi had me down a touchdown, 7 keepers to nothing while I was catching yellow bass that were running with the crappie. I finally caught my first keeper and then we doubled, with hers being a keeper and mine was a short.

The bass were chasing Shad along the bank within casting distance so I fished for them since Candi was going to catch all the crappie anyway. The first bass that I hooked jumped and threw my crappie jig back at me, but I never lost another one. I landed a very good white bass, another yellow bass, and a Wanda bass. All the while, Candi kept catching crappie.

Our final totals: 12 keepers, 3 yellow bass, and one each LM bass and white bass, 5 shorts by cuonthelake and one short by me. She even beats me on short fish. Grin.

Blue Ice, Albino Shad, S&P Shad, Ghastly Minnow, caught fish. Lights Out did not.

Good report and pics. The two of you look like you always have a great trip even if the fish don’t cooperate. Thanks for sharing.

I got Daisy settled for a nap after we got leaves cleaned up this am, an gave DK a text in hopes he had been saving my back seat for a crappie whooping!
I knew he had been out scouting crappie an knowing that DK is the perfect guide I thought what better way to wrap up a vacation than to enjoy a gorgeous fall day catching crappie.

So much for blowing off the walkway to the dock...however isn’t it just amazing the artist God is with these color,
while waiting for my Crappie Guide to pick me up at the dock, I thought I would check to see if an fish were still under my boat since it’s been awhile since I have relocated any to this zip code. BAM...a nice keeper crappie with the setting of the hook!
I know it’s gonna be a good day. Had to fake ol DK off into thinking I couldn’t shoot that dock. Have to take advantage on him because when he has his sunglasses on he can watch a line better than an eagle miles away. That’s his excuse today after I had about 5 keepers ahead of him. BIG GRIN
As much as he loves crappie, let a bass break surface chasing shad an DK can cast into those ripples an pull out a bass better than any bass fisherman anywhere. So he was distracted with that as well.
i never could get him to try the hot color today, trust me he has more baits an tackle than the bass pro shop an he uses every color on earth an can tell you what color they WON’T bite. Lololol
no better times are had than fishing with you DK. Thanks for letting me tag along an fill your livewell! Let’s do it again soon.Name: BBD96ACF-14F7-4700-803E-5B7FEFAE02D6.jpg

It’s about time you finished with that painting. Now that vacation is over. But I have more crappie to give away. I’ll make a banana pudding for you tomorrow morning and have Kathy’s crappie ready for her.
