Default Solo crappie 2 hr trip 11/04/20

My son n law and I went up to WB this am to Striper/Walleye fish and when we got to the parking lot below the dam, there were no trailers there. Bad sign number one. So we took the straps off the back of the boat and discovered that I had a dead cranking battery. Bad sign number two. I didn’t have my jumper cables so we drove back home.

A trip to Auto Zone for a Duralast battery and all is well now. I was back in business by early afternoon so after a quick light lunch, I decided to take a solo crappie trip out of Wolftever creek. I actually fished for and hour and 45 minutes. Landed 8 keepers and about 20 short crappie. I didn’t take any pics and the fish are on ice now, but I will post a pic of something that my wife, Wanda and I did yesterday.

We made muscadine jelly for the first time and it turned out nice. We had about 9 lbs of muscadines and we got 18 jars of various sizes. I had some on toast this am and it is good. Grin. Now I want to make some apple jalapeño pepper jelly. I need to get jars and lids but the stores don’t have any on shelf right now. Bummer.

    Muscadines, or scuppernongs?
Our muscadine jelly turns out a deep purple.
Scuppernongs are a lighter variety of muscadines.
Anyway, you turned a lemon into lemonade today and caught fish in the process.
And one fish about every 3.5 minutes is impressive !!!

That jelly does look good. I bet there is a great deal of current down your way as they are draining our lakes fast! Good catch on the solo trip, got my deer so it is time to start harassing the fish again.

NICE! Love canning! I Was wanting to do some pickled okra again this year, but no time since losing my mother-in-law and the building project got going again full steam in the past 4 months. Hope to get the boat in the water again here real soon.
