Default This week trip with Cuonthelake 9/15/20

We launched the boat from Wolftever ramp this morning and when we got to the main river and saw the NE wind at 6-7 mph and the waves, I said uh oh. We tried a couple of main river docks but to no avail. I made the decision to go find some protected docks. Good move, Teacher.

We found a dock that was protected mostly from the wind although I had to constantly adjust our position as the current would eventually push us too close to the dock. Candi began banging her lure off the front of the dock and I finally asked her if she needed another dock shooting lesson and I probably shouldn’t have pulled her chain so hard.

She quickly got ahead of me 5 to 1 and I’m thinking I can’t post this report at all. Lolol. And she had the gall to hand me the hot lure that she was catching the fish on. Bad move on her part. Big grin. So while she started playing with short crappie, I sneaked up on her and we both ended up with 6 keepers apiece.

But she showed her prowess with a rod and reel by hooking and landing a 2 pound 11 ounce Largemouth bass on 2 pound line. This is what we call a Wanda fish, named after my wife who loves to eat bass almost as much as I do. That dude went into the live well.

Four colors caught fish today. Blue Ice Swim’R, Ghastly Minnow, Electric Chicken and Outlaw Special and on Slab Slayer profiles. Fish would not touch the Baby Shad profile even if the hot color was used. Go figure?

River current was 19,400 cfs, and water temp was 83 degrees. The fish were on the bottom of the deep dock in 15-16 feet of water and very subtle bites for the most part. You would just barely see the line jump slightly or go slack. Set the hook and it is fish on.

For some unknown reason, I can’t upload pics. Sorry.
