Default Pulling for crappie on Woods

Couldn't stand it any longer so I drove down to Woods reservoir to pull cranks for crappie. Got on the water around 7:00 and came off at 3:00. Water temperature was in the low 80's, first couple runs I kept the boat in the 14 to 16 fow range and picked up a couple short crappie and a mess of yellow bellies, ended up trolling in the 18 to 20 fow before I scored my first keeper. I trolled three areas on the dam side of the bridge and caught fish all three locations. I trolled at 1.6 mph and my best color cranks were predominantly green colored, pinks caught a few but greens won the day. I caught a total of 28 crappie with 10 being solid keepers, if I had to measure to make sure, then they went back into the water. 3 of the 10 were over 13.5" long. It doesn't pay to keep track of yellow bellies, it was a ton but they kept me hustling. Would have been a good day to have the grandsons with me, no slack time... I pretty much had the lake to myself with maybe 5 - 6 other boats out there, no jet skies or ski boats, that's why I drive 1.5 hours to fish when I live 1/4 mile from a ramp on Old Hickory, just don't want to put up with the traffic. Can't wait for the colder fall and winter days, that's the best time to get out and enjoy God's creation.

    Good luck to all!

    Ray
