Default 7/18 Trashy Greenies and scoped crappie

All I can say, is I wish every trip was like this. We started at 5 am on a main lake ledge and by 8 am we had put 30+ bass and a good meal of white bass into the boat. It was starting to warm but I wanted to check a brush pile for some crappie. I stopped a good 2 hundred yards short of the brushpile and the fish finder was lit up. Dropped down and caught 14 crappie on 16 drops. There was so many, you could miss one and another would grab the bait. But, the biggest was a 9 incher. These fish were no where near any brush they were under a large shad pod.

Thanks for the screenshot! Seems that they like to school up and just roam around a bit during the dog days. I guess this is why trolling cranks is a solid mid-late summer pattern and also why many brush piles seem empty. I think they are still on some brush, but you may have to hit several piles before you find one they are on.

That's what I look for when trolling, bait and larger fish around them.
Obviously you had a great day, enjoy the memories.

Livescope looks so cool, a great way to find them when they are in open water.
