Good fish! It is definitely hot, and forecasted to get hotter!
Dr Phil substituted admirably for CUonthelake today as she is nursing Daisy while she recovers from her little spay job. We put in at Skull Island and fished offshore structures today. We caught most of our fish (7) keepers and 2 shorts on our second spot and a boat was sitting on my favorite offshore structure and he was bass fishing. We came back later after he was gone to catch our two biggest fish but by that time, we were at our appointed time to quit and beat the heat.
It was the first time this year that we found fish on this structure. It is a community hole and you count it lucky if you are first to this spot each day. Surface temp was 83.7 degrees which is about 3-4 degrees cooler than below the Sequoia Nuclear plant discharge which is in the middle of the river. Wind was calm and not much current.
I’ll fish 2 more hours on Wednesday. I’m cutting back on the number of times that I fish in July and August. Me and humidity are not buds. I’ll take 7 big fish and two hours over a limit of smaller fish and staying until you get heat stroke. Grin.

Good fish and great report, DK. Ya'll enjoy your cooler temps in east TN while we swelter down here in Mississippi!.... I know, I've lived in both places!

Hers not a fan of the Cone or the hot weather! I think she was trying to tune that satellite cone into the crappie fishing network for me! We will be out there catching soon DK, don't forget we can always turn the A/C on the boat! Drink lots of water and take care!

Man it is hot for sure now. 95 forecast a couple days this week. 7 keepers is a great trip for mid July. Stay cool and safe.

Beating the heat is always a good move. Looks like I'm going to have to start getting up at 3-4 am. and act like I'm night fishing again.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6drumking thanked you for this post
Good job on boating a few! Don't forget to give extra care to your garden during this heat wave. It's too hot for fishing very much anyway!
