Default A Hokie VJ PB White

Huh.....and that is code for what you may ask? Well it starts with Crappie.com and all the great members on here. VaCrappieMan has been a guest on my boat once this year for some Gill getting, but never tried the art of Crappie Pappies Vertical Jigging deep structure. A very effective technique for Summertime Specks, June and July are the best months to look in the snaggy craggy haunts for Panfish, so with the day off for the Fourth of July holiday, he came on down to give it a try. The day started slow for him, I stuck 8 shorts real quick before he put one over the rail. Monkey Milk Bobby Garland Baby Shad was working for me, and after about 4 color changes he realized the color he needed to put on his 1/32oz Lite Wire jig head. That’s ok, it’s all about learning. The morning picked up about 8:30 and I put a good 12in White in the Livewell for keeper number 2 and told him to drop right straight down to the bottom and reel one turn up. He did, thump, and his Personal Best White Crappie came to the net from the depths.

A great specimen, almost a TARP, and notice the hat? My son in law is a Hokie grad, so I am used to the VT logo. Again, no big deal, I was born in Clemson and we all know who has dominated the ACC as of late.

Worth the drive down this fish was, and several more nice Crappie came to the boat as the day heated up quickly. About 5-6 were caught shooting docks and a few were stuck using the pendulum casting technique as well. We both had afternoon commitments, so a noon exit was needed. A couple bonus fish were found, and one with teeth made the cut and went north up the road with him.

Water temps were about 84 when we pulled out. Get out there if you can, be safe, and have a good holiday weekend.

Great report, Stan. Nice fish. Offshore and deep is where it is at the moment. I’ll either have blue ice or monkey milk tied on my line unless something stains the water.

That's what it's all about. Like the old TV commercial said, "Pass it along". Good job fellas.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6
