Default Son's of Fisherman! Lake Chickamauga

I admit, I've been slacking on my reporting as of late. Been busy helping out a friend who's a new boat owner and wanting to explore different lakes. My last couple outings have been with my sons'. It seems they have caught the bug once again, to my pleasure.

Tuesday 6/9; A earlier trip with my youngest son and a friend of his, our last outing was productive. water was warming and above 75* as best I remember. We fished mostly deep drops with brush, and docks, the method of my madness was to teach him the dock shooting cast. Having instructed him in the basics and telling him to use that method of casting even though we were not on a dock. By the time I took him to a dock to let him hone his skill further, after some corrective instruction about his mechanics he was doing very well for his first attempts, and the smile from the fish he was catching was a added bonus.

Thursday 6/18; My eldest son and I went out . My instruction was the same with him, pertaining to dock shooting.
He practiced the mechanics for a little bit. But he still has the green carp fever, so has my youngest, just not as bad. Water was about 78* and current in the river was around 31k cfm. We located some brush in about 22' fow and proceeded to haul them over the gunnel. Again, the smiles says it all. After several crappie he decided he wanted to change to casting for bass. Knowing I have caught several different species from this location. I said, sure why not. He managed a white bass on a lipless crank bait but it came unbuttoned before he could get his hands on it. I told him that was a professional quick release, and it still counted. After many fruitless casts for the elusive green carp he decided he was going back to crappie fishing, they were more abundant and fun to catch. I believe thump fever is setting in.

This has been the best Father's Day month...

'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6

It’s been a blast and a great education. We need to get all 3 of us synced up for a trip. It took the hobby awhile to get its hooks in me but it’s a deep set now.
