Default Hot start to July 7/02/20

Biofisher and I got July off to a hot start. The bigger crappie stayed away, but the little fish wore us out. We ended up with 25 keepers 10.25-11.5”. But we must have caught over 100 short crappie. Gary was keeping count at the beginning and when he got to 9 shorts and only one keeper, he quit counting. 2 white bass, 2 Yellow bass and one channel catfish were the non crappie fish that we caught and one largemouth bass jumped off about 15 feet from the boat.

Water temp in the river was 78.3 and at Wolftever creek ramp it was 81.2. Flow rate today was 26,000+. Our lures were 3/32 oz jigs in 20 feet of water and I fished with a Baby Shad Blue Ice 2” with a green painted head. I was using my nanofil 8 pound line and never had to change lures. It is the same lure that we caught all the crappie on at Watts Bar two days ago. Same exact lure. With Gorilla glue holding the BG Baby Shad on a collarless jig, you can’t wear these jigs out. I can quit buying so many jigs now. Grin.

Wow, 25 riders, that’s a good mess for July. You are on them good this year. Keep it up, and watch out for that Jet Ski riding Dock Shooting Number One Sidekick of yours, she might buzz by you Hot start to July 7/02/20

Another great day! Congrats! Nice mess! The collarless jig heads and the glue is the ticket for sure saves a ton of plastics!
