I rarely fish Douglas, so don’t have an answer, but someone qualified should be along soon....

well we booked a cabin. it is not exactly on the lake but says has a path to the water, so it is probably too far to walk. It is 1.5 mile drive to the lake. It is in Dandridge TN

First Week in August on Douglas could be tough. First off, are you bringing a boat? If not, the water will be still be high, but not full pool so a lot of bank spots will still be difficult to access. The public ramp in Dandridge has an awesome dock to fish from, bring a picnic to, and just walk from the town over the bridge and to the lake and dock. You can night fish from that dock, it has plenty of room and early mornings and late afternoons are good as well. Go on Douglas Lake Fishing Facebook to see pics of the dock and to see what people are catching around the time of your trip. I am not part of that group but many do post reports on there.

If you do bring a boat, water temperatures will be in the high 80s, already 80 now at last of June. Crappie will be deep of course, and being in Dandridge you will be pretty much in the middle of the lake and can choose your direction of attack according to what you plan to do. Pulling cranks would be easiest, go above Dandridge to Indian Creek area and pull on the main channel flats between Indian Creek and Swanns Bridge...basically the right hand side going up river. Or, go above Swanns Bridge and pull on the right hand side all the way up to point 18, then back down the right hand side going down. The channel varies up that way and deep flats are on both sides. I have already seen boats pulling in these areas the few times I have been over there. If going down lake towards dam..Muddy Creek is a great stop, very long Creek and night fishing under the lights at the A-C points signs is decent in the summer months, see quite a few boats there. Way in the back of Muddy Creek is a bridge that might be good to check also, water will be falling some and fish may be on the pillars there as well. McGuire Creek is a little further down, good to pulls cranks in the main channel of it once you enter into the narrow neck. Flat Creek is at the dam and another long large creek that can be pulled from front to back in the channel. Electronics on the boat with mapping cards will help. Channels are not marked, down towards the dam is more challenging to navigate than above Dandridge as far as main channel running. Gills, Whisker Fish, White Bass and of course the Green Fish are present in the lake but I only target the Gills and the Crappie, so not much help on the other species. Good luck when you come and be safe. Remember Pigeon Forge, (Dollywood/Splash Country is opening up) Gatlinburg and Sevierville are close by, as well as Knoxville, so there are plenty of things to do nearby if the fish do not cooperate.
