    Default Woods reservoir rookie

Hi everyone, I’m extremely green at crappie fishing. Tried about 5 trips now all on woods reservoir. 4 of the trips was spring time.got a little down and out about Getting skunked 4 times in a row, so I switched over to catfish and trout for a little while. got a freezer full of catfish and trout now so I decided to try again this week. Went yesterday with my wife and 2 kids mostly just scouting around. Went today with my 3 year old, the bridge was solid red on the depth finder so we fished it. Couldn’t even get my jig to float to the bottom before the stripe and yellow bass hit it. We probably caught 50+ stripe today. Tried to shoot some docks without any luck. Any tips? I’ve been watching tons of YouTube on it, mostly Richard gene. I’ll keep trying til I get it figured out, but I thought if anyone could give me some advice here, that’d be great. Been dying to catch my first crappie. Thanks for any advice.

My wife and I are new to fishing at Woods too. We've been out 3 or 4 times with minimal success. The few fish we did catch were in some brush in around 10' of water. We are set up for spider rigging but the small fish are killing us on bait costs so we are changing tactics to jigging the next time out.

Welcome from Northeast Alabama! Time on the water is your friend ! Go go go and keep going .i don’t make it over their as much as I want too but the times that I have they have always been some fish on the bridge usually they are deeper than the stripe. this time of year I would look for fish to be in deeper water or close by on the river ledges ,turns and drops and steep points Keep and eye out for brush In 10+ fow or deeper .Cover as much water as you can but keep it area specific until you learn the lake . this year has been a very strange year for fishing on most days it’s been feast or famine mostly famine but that’s fishing . not a whole lot of guys /gals from that area that are real active on here But they are a middle Tennessee crappie club on the Tennessee board that you might could keep and eye out for and maybe meet up with some of those folks they are some great folks but very tight lipped in the social world but you can’t quite blame them .hope this helps a little and good luck.

Thanks for the info! I’m heading out again right now to give it a try.
