Nice!
Jay and I had a fairly good morning while crappie fishing. 12 keeper crappie went home with Jay to feed his 3 kids and wife. I caught a 7 lb blue catfish and was intending to keep, but after hauling him around for an hour or so, decided to set him free. I think that I heard him say thank you Lord as he swam away. Jay caught a small white bass and that was our only other bonus fish.
We began on a main lake point with deep water running right up against the bank and Jay got us started with the first keeper crappie. The fish were off the end of the point and after landing a couple more, the fish shut up. Then to another spot and I caught one keeper there. It was a bluff upriver from where we started.
Offshore next where we caught the rest of our fish. It was a ledge on the main river with brush cover and many more fish than we caught. Our fish came on Monkey Milk and Lightning bug baby Shads and minnow minder’Rs. One of my favorite offshore structures has failed to produce fish this year and has me puzzled. I’m not seeing the fish on the graph like they should be.
The day before the bass tournament and every pro must be planning on fishing down here. They go out of Dayton boat dock and Richland creek. I’ll be glad when they finish up.
Nice!
Thanks DK!! I had a great time as always. We did get a nice bucket of fish. I see crappie cakes in my future.
Following up on DK's hypothesis from the other day I decided to check the bellies on the fish as I filleted them. All of the fish had very full stomachs, and they were all full of Mayflies and/or the larva that was trying to emerge. I hope this helps someone catch a few.
Have a great day, JayW
You guys are on them. Hope to get out later in week, I know they are waiting!

Good job fellas! I'm off the week of the 4th. I have some prowling around to do...
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6drumking thanked you for this post
Nice report DK. The wife and I will be over that way to do some fishing next week. I've never fished Chickamauga before, so it'll be nice to see the lake from my boat. We'll be staying at a rental in the Sale Creek area 7/1 - 7/4. I'm looking forward to fishing there!
