Default Great morning crappie fishing. 6/19/20

My Mom would have been 97 today, but has been with Jesus since 2013. So, maybe she helped us catch all these fish today. She knows how I love to fish. Grin.

It is two days before the New Moon and typically, two days before and two days after this moon phase is usually great fishing. Biofisher and I fished for 4 hours today and caught 26 crappie that we kept and released many more shorts and a couple that were barely legal, but we had all that we wanted to ice down and clean later. Plus, I landed 3 out of the 4 bass that wanted our crappie lures, two of them were legal keeper size. The big one got away as they always do. Grin.

One nice size for our lake, yellow bass, and one 7” Shellcracker completed our trip today. After two poor days of fishing (fishing for Stripers per Dr Phillip’s request yesterday) and with my son in law on Wednesday where we fished several miles upriver and was mainly a scouting trip, it was nice to see the crappie go on a feeding spree. I will check the stomach contents this evening when I clean them and report the findings.

The current flow was 20,000 while we were out and they increased it just before we quit for the day. Surface temp was 79.4 and lake at summer level. More fish were caught on 3/32 oz jigs with Monkey Milk Minnow Mind’Rs and we also used 1/16 oz in areas when appropriate. Blue Ice was good and very early before sunrise, Lights Out and Black Night Baby Shads were hot. I like black color before the sun is up and when you can just barely see your line.

I am including a pic that I took below Watts Bar yesterday morning. I think that you will like it.

You are so welcome, Snagged, and the reason that I post such pertinent info is so that novice crappie fishermen who have a great desire to learn how to fish, and no one willing to help them can apply the things that I do and become a more accomplished angler.

I wondered where you have been, now I know. My oldest son and me pulled 8 keepers from there Thursday. Good job fellas.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6

I read on Richard’s blog that the guide up there was trolling for those huge yellow perch. If I go up there again, I won’t be trolling for them. Grin. You know how I feel about that. I don’t want the boat getting all the fun. Lolol.
