Great report and pictures!
The Drumking and his Court have been serving up some great reports on Chick Lake warm water Crappie Catching. And finally the headwaters of that TN river system have warmed to their normal June temps (17 days late), thus the Crappie have decided to move towards their summer hideouts. Schooled up tight, evident on the depth finder in 20 FOW, it was time to drop a jig in front of some yesterday evening for a hopeful thump.
?
?Short, but hungry. The next two drops were more productive.

The one in the first picture didn’t fit in the measuring board thingy, my favorite length. The second had a funny looking tail, probably fresh off the bed. Bobby Garland Baby Shad in Blue Ice on a 1/32 Light Wire jig head is standard Vertical Jigging equipment, on a yellow braid where I can see the line jump with the thump. A couple of docks just hollered out to me, and my favorite one yielded a 4+ pound Bully that did his best to get my jig, but a scoop with the net, a pic was all he got.
?
When I use the Blue and Chartreuse scent markers and Slab Sauce on baits, everyone wants a bite. No wind, no real current due to no generation of water and a slight sprinkle of rain were the conditions, and while the bite was slow, it was at least present. I ended up with 15 total fish, Drum included, and 6 made the trip hope for a short mess.
?
?Salt and Pepper species were caught, and size was above average.

In an earlier post Drumking alluded to a correlation of stomach contents and moon phases. So I checked the stomachs of all 6, and sure enough all 6 were empty as a dead mans eyes. There were visible fry around two of the docks that I took three of the keepers from, so I know food was present, but it was not in their stomachs. I will yield to the more experienced, but the hypothesis holds for me. Stay safe, and get out there if you can.

...did better than me!! I got out for a few hours yesterday evening with the wife, fish were there but danged if I could get anything consistent out of em. 2 occupants of the livewell rode up and down the lake with us for awhile, then went back to their deep water haunts. Had 6 or 7 shorts. That was the toughest evening I've had IN A LONG TIME
Those will make some nice fish tacos! Glad you got out and put a bend in the rods!
